Book Review

A long time comin’

Robin W. Pearson

Pearson is a North Carolina native and a graduate of Wake Forest University. She was an editor at Houghton Mifflin and writes a blog, Mommy, Concentrated. This is her debut novel. The characters are well-drawn and the setting, Spring Hope, NC, is the small town we know and either love or can’t leave fast enough. Evelyn Lester, the main character, does both, literally and in her mind. She finds leaving isn’t what it’s cracked up to be, but staying is harder than she could imagine. The story is about family fissures, faith and forgiveness. And that truth has the power to heal.
